Vacant Property

On August 23, 2011, the City of Blue Island adopted Ord. 11-141, An Ordinance Establishing Vacant Property Regulations and Priority Lien Procedures.

Pursuant to Section 9 of Blue Island Ord. 11-141, the owners of properties known to be vacant are required to register with the City of Blue Island.

There is a required biannual registration and inspection fee. Registration is due on April 1st and October 1st. Current fee schedule: Residential: $400. Commercial: $450. Industrial: $500.

An inspection of the building will be scheduled within 30 days of registration.

Foreclosure Notice Information

Pursuant to 735 ILCS 5/15-1503(b), a copy of the notice of foreclosure described in subsection (a) of Section 15-1503 shall be sent by first class mail, postage prepaid, to the municipality within the boundary of which the mortgaged real estate is located, or the the county within the boundary of which the mortgaged real estate is located if the mortgaged real estate is located in an unincorporated territory.

All Foreclosure Notices pertaining to residential real estate within the corporate boundaries of Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois shall be sent to the following address:
