  • TGIF Picnics
    •   Every Friday in July, at MetroSouth Park located on York Street & Western Avenue, between 11am and 2pm. Disney Radio will broadcast from the events with special games for kids 11am-noon (Sponsored by MetroSouth Medical Center, Blue Island Library and the City of Blue Island). Live Music from noon to 2pm!
  • 4th of July Parade and Fireworks
    •   Parade – Saturday, July 4th stating at 11:30am – on Western Avenue between 123rd and Vermont Streets. 
    •   Fireworks begin at Dusk at Eisenhower High School, corner of 127th Street & Sacramento, $1 admission. Gates open at 7pm. Support our events! Buy a flag, button, bracelet, or t-shirt. Wear a bracelet or button to the fireworks and get in free.
  • Blue Island MetroSouth Medical Center ProAm Cycling Classic 
    •   Saturday, July 11th -Race starts at York Street & Western Avenue. Race route: Western south to Vermont Street, Vermont west to Greenwood Avenue, Greenwood north to Oak Street and then east on Oak to Western Avenue (all day event). Bicycle racing, food, entertainment and a Big Wheel race for children at 5pm.

  • Light Up the River Boat Parade
    •   Saturday, August 22nd – Decorated lighted boat parade on the Calumet-Sag Channel from Fay’s Point to the Western Avenue Bridge ending with a professional fireworks display. MWRD Park at Chatham & Fulton, Fireworks viewing, music and fun. Boat Parade starts at 8pm, Fireworks display at 10pm.
  • Mexican Independence Day Celebration
    •   Saturday, September 12th - At MetroSouth Park located on the corner of York Street & Western Avenue from 5pm to 9pm. Food, dancers, music, vendors and more!
  • Southland Regatta at Fay’s Point
    •   Sunday, November 1st - Women’s Collegiate Rowing on the Calumet-Sag Channel, 9am to 4pm.
  • Christmas Light Parade
    •   Saturday, December 5th - On Western Avenue between Prarie Street & Grove Street starting at 5:30pm. Carriage rides, hot cocoa, cookies and more at the MetroSouth Park located on York Street & Western Avenue.
  • Rock Around the Clock
    •   Thursday, December 31st - Celebrate the New Year at the corner of Western Avenue & Vermont Street from 11:30pm to 12:30am. Free party favors, professional fireworks and countdown ball drop!
