    •   2009 USEPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant Proposal
    •   The City of Blue Island submitted a proposal for a 2009 USEPA Cleanup Grant of $200,000 to help offset redevelopment costs at the former landfill at 119th/Vincennes. A copy of the draft proposal will be available for public review at the Community Development Department (2nd Floor, City Hall). Please contact the Community Development Department at 708.396.7036, if you have any questions about the project.
    •   Western Avenue 2-Way Traffic Feasibility Study
    •    Kenig, Lindgren, O’Hara, Aboona, Inc. (KLOA) will kick-off the long awaited Western Avenue 2-Way Traffic Feasibility Study on October 28, 2008. The firm intends to complete data collection (traffic counts) before the end of Fall and anticipates to finish the project in early Spring 2009. During the course of the study, KLOA will evaluate the feasibility of returning Western Avenue to its original 2-way traffic pattern and the three design alternatives proposed in the Blue Island Plan. We are looking forward to the results of the study and thank all who responded to the RFP for this project. (Updated 10/24/2008)

    •   The City Council adopted “A Resolution Indicating Commitment and Support to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) GO TO 2040 Campaign, the Metropolitan Chicago Region’s First Truly Comprehensive Planning Campaign by the City of Blue Island as an Official Campaign Partner” (Resolution 08-360) on 10/14/2008.
