A special City Council meeting will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 7pm in City Hall East Annex to discuss Fay’s Point and the Veteran’s Parade.

The Illinois Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall honors Illinois Service Members lost in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqui Freedom operations. It will be visiting Blue Island’s Memorial Park on Sunday, May 19th with a public ceremony at 2 pm. A performance by the Encore Concert Band follows the ceremony. This is sponsored by Area Veterans, the Illinois Patriot Guard, City of Blue Island, Blue Island’s Park District, the Blue Island Public Library and the American Legion Post 50.

Domingo Vargas will be sworn in as the new Mayor of Blue Island on Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm in front of City Hall, 13051 Greenwood Avenue.   The Aldermen and City Officials will also be sworn in at that time.  The public is invited to attend to meet the new administration and give their congratulations!

We would also like to thank Mayor Peloquin for his many years of service to Blue Island and wish him the best in the coming years.

In honor of Earth Week, The Scouts of Boy Scout Troop 788 will hold a community wide paper drive to promote recycling and help the environment.
