Notice of City of Blue Island’s intent to apply for U.S.EPA Brownfields Multi-purpose Pilot Grant; Notice of a Public Meeting to discuss, accept and consider Public Comment on the Draft Grant Proposal; and Request for Public Comment on the Draft Grant Proposal.

The City of Blue Island intends to apply for a U.S.EPA Brownfields Multi-purpose Pilot Grant that is due on February 10, 2012. This proposal is associated with the assessment, cleanup planning and cleanup of hazardous substances at 2 parcels located at the SE corner of the Northeast Mixed-Use Commercial Park, the former landfill site at 119th St and Vincennes Ave.  More Info

Rock Around the Clock

Celebrate New Years Eve at the City of Blue Island Rock Around the Clock Celebration on the corner of Vermont Street and Western Avenue.  The corner will be closed off to traffic at 11:30pm.  Free party favors will be distributed and at the stroke of midnight the Fire Department will  have the lighted ball drop and oversee the professional Fireworks display!  Fun for the whole family!  For more information call Mary Poulsen at 708-396-7035

1st Ever Emergency Alert System (EAS) Nationwide Test

Emergency Alert Nationwide Test - 11/9/11 at 1pm CSTThe federal government will conduct the 1st nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) - Wednesday, November 9, 1pm.

The test will last up to 3 1/2 minutes and during this period, regularly-scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows will be interrupted.

The City of Blue Island, Police, Fire, and 911 Communications would like to reassure that this event is just a test, and not a real emergency alert.
