<p>The Friends of District 218, an educational foundation, will sponsor this event as a fund raiser supporting college scholarships for students and grants for teachers. The event includes dinner, an open bar, disk jockey, and raffles.</p>
<p>Through January 13, tickets cost $75 per couple or $40 per individual. After January 13 and at the door, tickets cost $50 per person. Tickets are available in the main offices of Eisenhower High School, 12700 S. Sacramento, Blue Island; Richards High School, 10601 S. Central Avenue, Oak Lawn; and, Shepard High School, 13049 S. Ridgeland Avenue, Palos Heights.</p>
<p>Tickets also are available at the Administrative Center, 10701 S. Kilpatrick or by calling 708-424-2000, ext. 2500 to order tickets. Checks should be made payable to &#8216;CHSD 218 Foundation.&#8217;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Saturday, October 2, the Community Development Department with help from the Tommy A. Brown Sports Association and area residents built a new 2,000 s.f. garden at the former Blue Island Rec Center, 141st Street and Francisco. <p>Volunteers from the Urban Forestry Board and Eisenhower HS joined sixth Ward Aldermen Johnson and Frausto preparing the beds and spreading compost. Larry O&#8217;Toole of <a href="http://www.growinghomeinc.org/">Growing Home</a> and Val Kehoe of <a href="http://www.christywebber.com/">Christy Webber Landscapes</a> helped kids plant a winter garden &#8211; they were eager to get started&#8230; check out the photos!<br />
