City of Blue Island Think Outside the Loop
The City of Blue Island has adopted the Western Avenue Business Development District (BDD) in accordance with Illinois Statute Chapter 65 Article 11 Division 74.3: Business District Development and Redevelopment. The district boundaries primarily front the Western Avenue commercial corridor beginning at 119th Street to 135th Street and Vermont Street from east side of Division Street to the west side of Greenwood Avenue. Properties on Olde Western Avenue are also in a local Historic District.
BDD business and property owners are eligible for economic development incentives such as the Business Development Grant Program, which provides a 50% match grants for eligible facade, signage and site improvements.
You can check all BDD disbursements at the Illinois Department of Revenue Business District page. Note that disbursements are for the third previous month (for example, October’s disbursement is for July’s sales).
