Black Culture Night 2017

Blue Island’s Neighborhood Watch Group #37 is having their 16th Annual Black Culture Night in the Blue Island East Annex, 2434 Vermont St, on Friday, February 17th. Dr. Mary Clark Bruce, Ph.D. from Governors State University is the honored Guest Speaker. Dr. Bruce is working on a documentary on Harlem Renaissance leader and jazz poet Langston Hughes. Honoring the 50th anniversary of Hughes’ death, the program will also feature saxophonist Gregory Bingham, poets D. Towers and Tyi, and guitarist Toney Stevens.

Admission is free and there will be delicious refreshments and lots of door prizes! It’s always a wonderful night.
