Come Out For The 1st Day of Spring!

A Gardener & Volunteer General Interest Meeting & Seed Starting Workshop for all those interested in Blue Island community gardening will be held on

Come see what Blue Island has to grow! You will have the opportunity to

  • • register for a plot
  • • sign up to volunteer
  • • learn about future workshops
  • • start seeds for our Food Bank garden plots
  • • schmooze with local gardeners and green volunteers

Representatives from both of Blue Island’s community gardens will be present.

That same evening we’ll also be starting seeds for our Food Bank plots and Heirloom Seedling Sale Gardener Scholarship Fundraiser (5/9). Volunteers will be starting seeds for the Community and Food Bank Plots. Registered gardeners will be able to starting seeds for

their own plots too. Extra hands will help us achieve our goals!

Garden Clean Up Days & Season Kick Off

Clean-up Days have been scheduled to get the garden ready for planting. We need hands for pulling weeds and clearing beds, laying soil, installing 3 new beds and building a picnic table. If you’re a carpenter, organizer, gardener or just a fan of the outdoors, we have a job for you! And of course, there will be healthy SNACKS!

Clean-up Days & Kick Off will be on-site at CG2, corner of Francisco & 141st

Clean-up Day #1:   Saturday, March 23, 2-4p
Clean-up Day #2:  Tuesday, March 26, 2-4p
Season Kick Off:    Tuesday, April 2, 3-6p
