FREE CONCERT
July 2, 2012, 7:00pm

Folk artist, Bucky Halker will perform This Land is Your Land: Woody Guthrie and the Great American Folksong! On July 2nd, bring a lawn chair, a snack, and a sing’n voice  to the Blue Island Public Library parking lot, 2433 York Street (if it rains, the concert will move into Christ Memorial Church, 2440 York St).  This event is brought to you by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council.

FREEDOM EXPRESS VISITS BLUE ISLAND
July 3, 2012, 10:30am-2:30pm
The Chicago Tribune and Robert R. McCormick Foundation brings the Freedom Express to the BIPL. The Freedom Express is a traveling museum exploring First Amendment freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. This is an interactive exhibit with artifacts that explore the historical context and contemporary relevance of our constitutional freedoms. Special guest, Dr. Ben Franklin will be hosting the event from 11:30am to 1:30pm. This event is free, bring the whole family! Blue Island Public Library parking lot, 2433 York Street.

Blessing of the Water

The fourth annual Interfaith Day of Prayer to Heal and Renew the Environment will be held on Sunday, June 24 at 4 pm.

People of every religious faith are invited to meet at the Cal Sag Waterfall in Blue Island for an inter-religious and highly participatory ritual of spiritual cleansing and renewal for the water, land and air of our planet.
(On the Cal Sag Channel.  The parking lot is located on Chatham, south of Vermont and North of the Bridge…Watch for signs)

Blue Heart: Summer 2012 Exhibit Reception | July 18, 2012, 5:00pm
Invite your friends and family to celebrate the first Blue Heart exhibit at the Blue Island Public Library, 2433 York St. Following the Hal Foster exhibit tour at 5:30pm, BIPL will host a reception with light refreshments to celebrate the art at the library this summer. The Blue Heart exhibit will be on display beginning July 9th.
