Blue Island presents its much-loved Holiday Light Parade on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Festooned in lights, watch as bands, floats, cars, bikes, even horses march down Western Ave in Uptown Blue Island spreading holiday cheer.

Test Of The Emergency Alert System – 11/9/11 at 1pm

1st Ever Emergency Alert System (EAS) Nationwide Test

Emergency Alert Nationwide Test - 11/9/11 at 1pm CSTThe federal government will conduct the 1st nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) - Wednesday, November 9, 1pm.

The test will last up to 3 1/2 minutes and during this period, regularly-scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows will be interrupted.

The City of Blue Island, Police, Fire, and 911 Communications would like to reassure that this event is just a test, and not a real emergency alert.

Civil War Series: “Boy Soldiers of the Civil War”
