The Dixie Highway is an Historic Route in the United States. And every year in Illinois about 200 enthusiasts hop in their classic cars to “Cruise” the Dixie from Blue Island to Momence.

The public is invited to kick off the Drivin’ the Dixie at the parking lot across from the Library to browse the classic cars and enjoy donuts and coffee.

For details about participating in the drive, including fees, visit www.drivingthedixie.com.  Participants will receive a passport for points of interests within the Dixie Highway communities, and can then explore the destinations at their leisure. Each town hosts something different (like yard sales or special lunch options).

The annual state of address report will be given by Blue Island Historical Society Chairman, Michael Kaliski.  This event will also include the plaque dedication to the Blue Island Women’s Club Members–the plaque is the most recent addition to the Albee House.
