Brownfield Site Reuse RFP

The City of Blue Island seeks assistance in producing a site reuse plan within the City’s South COD district.

The City of Blue Island wishes to obtain qualifications and a priced proposal for site planning and recommendations associated with the redevelopment of Brownfield sites in the South COD area. The work will be completed in cooperation with the City of Blue Island and as part of the USEPA Brownfields Assessment grant awarded in 2008. All work that is completed shall conform to respective EPA Brownfields requirements. Prescription Drug Safety

The Blue Island Police Department will be participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s second nationwide prescription drug take-back program. The purpose of the program is to allow citizens to safely dispose of used medications that may be hazardous to have in the home or available for possible abuse. The drugs will be picked up by DEA and properly disposed of.  No needles can be accepted.

In Blue Island, an officer will be assigned to accept old and used prescription drugs on:

Irish Music & “South Side Irish Parade” Book Discussion

The Blue Island Historical Society and Blue Island Public Library invite you to celebrate the season with live Irish music by Aislinn Gagliardi, followed by a book discussion on “Chicago’s South Side Irish Parade” with author, Bridget Kennedy. Part of the Images of America series, the “Chicago’s South Side Irish Parade”  book is complete with stories of the parade’s 31-year history. Attend the event to learn more about the parade’s history and ask your own questions!
