What Is Deconstruction?

Course Description & Training Schedule
The Deconstruction Training Program will occur in 2-week sessions that will be repeated 6 times at different residential buildings between February and May. Each session will be composed of a group of no more than 10 trainees learning basic deconstruction techniques on a residential structure in either Park Forest, IL, or Evanston, IL. Trainees will work from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., four days/week.

Ideal Candidates will have a minimum of 6 months experience in demolition or construction (as a licensed contractor or as an apprentice to a licensed contractor) as well as an interest in innovative demolition techniques or building material reuse opportunities.
Basic physical requirements include the ability to: lift 75 pounds, climb stairs frequently, and communicate in English easily. Applicants should not have any pre-existing injuries or breathing restrictions.
