Celebrate “The Heart of the Community”

Friday, October 15th, 2010

October is Illinois Arts and Humanities Month, and Blue Island’s Arts and Culture Commission are inviting all to the official unveiling of their first mural project, The Heart of the Community, seen on the wall north of MetroSouth Park, located at the corner of York St and Western Ave.

Designed by Blue Island resident and artist Ricardo Gonzalez, the Arts and Culture Committee is celebrating the occasion with a Dia de los Muertos event and fundraiser on Thursday, October 28 at Restaurante Tenochtitlan, 12947 Western Ave. A $10 donation gets you food, music, and a fun time, including “Day of the Dead” sugar skull decorating!
