The Blue Island Public Library, along with the Blue Island Historical Society, presents three big Burnham events in November to celebrate the centennial of the 1909 Plan of Chicago.

November 5 we “Meet Dan Burnham” as we’re introduced to the people and events that shaped the Windy City and transformed it from the “Wild Onion” into the “City of Big Shoulders.”
This event is at the Blue Island Historical Society, 13018 Maple Ave. – 10:30am for school groups and 7pm for all!

November 10 the Library welcomes WGN radio host and Chicago Tribune writer Rick Kogan along with Tribune photographer Charlie Osgood to explore Burnham’s legacy in “Make Big Plans.”  This event is at the Blue Island Library – 7pm.

November 24 is a special “Seniors Only” lunch and slide presentation of Burnham’s vision featuring Prof. Jeff Mishur of Art Excursions.  This event is at the Blue Island Library – 11:30am.

Each of these events are FREE but do require a ticket.  Tickets are available at the Blue Island Library’s Main Desk. School groups must make reservations, please call Dan Carroll at the BIPL: 708-388-1078 x30. Tickets for the senior lunch are also available at the Blue Island Senior’s Office in City Hall.
