Western Ave 2-Way Traffic Feasibility Study

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Kenig, Lindgren, O’Hara, Aboona, Inc. (KLOA) will kick off the long-awaited Western Avenue 2-Way Traffic Feasibility Study on October 28, 2008.  The firm intends to complete data collection (traffic counts) before the end of Fall and anticipates to finish the project in early Spring 2009.

During the course of the study, KLOA will evaluate the feasibility of returning Western Avenue to its original 2-way traffic pattern and the three design alternatives proposed by the Center For Neighborhood Technoloy (CNT) and Farr Associates in the Blue Island Plan (adopted in Sept 2005).  The study findings and preferred plan will be presented at a City Council soon after completion.

This study was made possible through the IDOT Corridor Planning Grant secured by the Community Development Department in 2007.  Please check back for additional information on the progress of this exciting project!
